Historically I have used the month of December to pause and relect on the previous year. I invite you to join along. Carve out a few moments to consider this question. I highly recommend writing your answers down. Maybe read the question at the start of the day and write your thoughts before retiring for the night. Do all or do some. If you are on instagram we can use #remember2018 or go ahead and tag me @ramonawildeman if you want to share your thoughts.
December 1st
Pick a word that encapsulated your 2018. Maybe it will come to mind immediately, or maybe you will choose to take some time to think about it. We are looking for a mood or theme. Maybe you chose a word for 2018. How did it impact your days? Did you use it? Do you even remember what you chose? Is your understanding of the word different at the end of the year than at the beginning. Did it help you?
SHIFT
My word for 2018 is SHIFT. About halfway through the year I started spelling it in all caps. Just seemed to give it that little bit of extra.
I used the word as a guidepost and reminder frequently. In fact, I think that this word carried some of the most clout, of all the words I have chosen over the years. It came to me quickly and it has helped me to rethink perspective and attitudes in times of complacency and frustration.
I sense that I will continue to use this word throughout my remaining days almost as an internal anchor or command when I find myself feeling stuck.
